Amon-Ra St. Brown Brings Rhymes with Reason  Literacy Program to Detroit Students

DETROIT – September 10, 2025 – St. Brown Foundation, founded by NFL stars and brothers Amon-Ra, Equanimeous and Osiris St. Brown, is funding Rhymes with Reason, a web-based platform that teaches young people vocabulary and literacy skills using popular music lyrics, for students in Detroit.

On Tuesday, Sept. 9, Rhymes with Reason was introduced to 100 middle-schoolers at Durfee Elementary-Middle School. The program’s CEO and founder, Austin Martin, introduced the program, taking the students through a variety of exercises to learn new words by playing some of the students’ favorite songs.

“When students see their favorite music tied to learning, it makes language exciting and relevant,” said Martin.

The program aligns with Amon-Ra's and his brothers’ mission to make learning fun through the St. Brown Foundation. The students were also surprised with a special video from Amon-Ra St. Brown.

“Rhymes with Reason is a fun way to pick up new vocabulary words through music,” said Amon-Ra St. Brown, wide receiver for the Detroit Lions. “My brothers and I started the St. Brown Foundation to help students succeed and shoot for the stars.”

The foundation has its first fundraising event coming up. Strike for Literacy on Nov. 3 at Five Iron Golf will raise proceeds that go towards expanding Rhymes with Reason to more schools and providing school supplies for children in need. The event will include a VIP meet and greet with St. Brown, golf and duckpin bowling, surprise celebrity guests, a silent auction, and complimentary food and drinks. Tickets are available for purchase at stbrownfoundation.org/strike-for-literacy
